This is a great reminder when we tend to put other people on a pedestal and think we're less than them. I often struggle with this when meeting new people. I'm so glad I came across your Substack newsletter. I loved your writings on your website.

oh what a beautiful thing to have happened, Susannah. I could picture you both and hear your conversation and wanted so much for you to have been visited by a butterfly as you alighted the train.

Beautiful experience, fear and hate comes from lack of knowledge, we are all the same and we feel the same (mostly). I talked to a lonely old lady last time I visited NY and she was very like my grandma, a woman who born and lived very far away from that lady, in another culture but it felt like I was talking to someone very similar to her. It was an amazing and lovely experience. That time the live music made the connection, in your case was the coffee. Precious moments with people that we don´t know, we only need something to connect and the magic happens.

I needed to see this today. With all the hurt, anger and divisiveness around, fear overtakes us. This story reminds me that no matter who we are, where we come from, what we look like, believe in and hope for, we are all the same. Still humans on this beautiful planet who need to live together and try to understand each other. Thanks for this.
