Hello! I’m Susannah.
I’m an author, photographer and teacher who’s been sharing her heart online since 2006. I help people know, trust and look after themselves better by teaching the tools that helped me heal my own heart and live a self-directed life. My first book, This I Know: Notes on Unraveling the Heart (Skirt! Books), hit bookshelves in 2012, followed by LONDONTOWN: A Photographic Tour of the City’s Delight (Chronicle Books) in 2016.
Words have been at the centre of my world for as long as I can remember. I started writing a diary aged 11 and grew not only a life-long journaling practice but an unending curiosity about my place in the world. Walking through the fire of bereavement in my early 30s is how I came to truly inhabit every part of who I am, the shadows as well as the light. In 2006 I started writing a blog, unintentionally growing an audience around me as I reopened the door to my creative heart.
For the last 13 years I’ve been teaching creative courses online, sharing tools and practices to help others access their own creative joy. Alongside the teaching I weave words and images together to share my story in the hope you see a little of yourself reflected back. My inspiration is mined out of my own life as I navigate plot twists and report back from the (midlife!) trenches.
When we share our stories we feel less alone.
I’m so glad you’re here. ❤️
